Mr. Hynes stated he loved his pets and couldn't part with them. He is an elderly man unable to keep the dogs home or provide veterinary care or sterilization. Mr. Hynes became overwhelmed by unplanned litters. The horses were poorly kept, unvaccinated, not trimmed and had no ground manners. All dogs were unsocialized and had numerous skin problems.

In researching this case, Citrus County Animal Services discovered Mr. Hynes had over 50 dogs seized from him in Marion County, Florida as well as Hernando County, Florida.

Judge Mark Yerman awarded the custody of the animals to Citrus County Animal Services and prohibited Mr. Hynes from animal care or custody in the future. Citrus County Animal Services petitioned the court to allow Mr. Hynes to have one dog after it was sterilized and vaccinated as long as Citrus County could supervise the future care. The court approved the request and CCAS returned "Skippy" to Mr. Hynes. They continue to monitor Mr. Hynes for compliance.
