SPCA Investigators made an animal cruelty arrest in Kirkville. Donald Schmeling, 61, of Kirkville Road is charged with three counts of animal cruelty for improper confinement of three horses.

Investigators say they found the horses living in an extremely high concentration of manure and mud. They say, "the animals were literally up to their knees in it."

The horses were seized by investigators and are being held at an undisclosed location.

Schmeling is due in court June 27th. Meantime, the CNY SPCA is accepting donations to help care for the horses.
