A man was issued five citations Wednesday for a variety of offenses after deputies responded to his home on Little Creek Lane over reports of horses being allowed to wander on the public roads. The deputies were called to the home about 5:30 p.m. May 20 because five miniature horses were wandering in traffic. A deputy attempting to contact one of the owners discovered rabbit droppings at least 12 inches deep beneath three rabbit cages in the man's garage and animal feces in a fenced yard that the deputy said caused a stench that was almost overpowering. It took several days to make contact with the man, but the deputy issued him citations for cruelty to animals, allowing animals at large and causing a public nuisance through safety and health violations.
