A woman in Durant reported a case involving her own neice and the neice's boyfriend. They were allegedley mis-treating seven cats, three dogs, and five birds. Two of the dogs were very sick, and possibly suffering from parvo.

A warrant has been issued for 20 year-old Stephanie Dubose and 31-year-old Jason Templeton for mis-treating several animals in their apartment at the University Arms in Durant.

The woman who reported the crime didn't agree with how the animals in the home were being treated.

When officers arrived, a puppy was tied to a kitchen drawer, lying next to what appeared to be bloody feces and vomit. The puppy had no food or water.

And another dog was tied up in the bathroom. That dog's water bowl had blood, flies, and feces floating in it.

"There were some animals there that were being neglected," said Lt. Johnny Rutherford, of Durant P.D. "They needed medical attention. They were not healthy at all, they were sick, possibly thought they had parvo."

Officers took pictures of the conditions in the apartment.

In an interview, Dubose and Templeton admitted that one of the puppies had parvo, but they wanted to go to a graduation in Texas, so they tied the puppy up instead.

When they returned to Durant, the two suspects first said they took the puppies to a Wal-mart parking lot and gave them away.

Finally, Templeton admitted to dumping the puppies. Dubose and Templeton face felony animal cruelty and abandonment charges.
