On February 26, 2006, Herman P. Crisanto a/k/a Herman P. Crisandt was charged with two counts of Animal Cruelty (misdemeanor) in Chesterfield County, Va.

Defendant failed to provide adequate care for two pit-bull mixes in his possession for a 6-week period. Each animal was underweight and severely malnourished, both considered a 2 on the BCS scale. Both animals have since recovered and are awaiting adoption.

On May 16, 2006, defendant was convicted and sentenced to 12 months in jail with 8 months suspended for 3 years. Forfeiture of the abused animals to the county for future adoption. Defendant banned from owning or possessing companion animals. Unsupervised probation for 3 years.
