more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Puppy thrown off second-story balcony Leesburg, FL (US)Incident Date: Monday, May 29, 2006 County: Lake
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Brian H. Glover
Case Updates: 2 update(s) available
A man who was angry about a rambunctious puppy getting into his baby's things tossed the dog off a second-story balcony, police said in a report. Brian H. Glover, 23, was arrested and jailed on a charge of animal cruelty.
Lake County deputy sheriffs said the puppy, a mix of cocker spaniel and Jack Russell terrier, had a cut on its lip and a swollen jaw but apparently was not seriously injured. A neighbor called police and said she saw Glover throw the dog from the porch early Monday.
Questioned by police at his second-floor apartment, Glover denied having a pet, but Leesburg Officer Kim Holtzclaw spotted a dog dish on the kitchen floor, the report said. He then told officers his girlfriend took the pup to a friend's house. As police were questioning him, the girlfriend arrived and told police Glover tossed the dog in anger.
Glover also was wanted on a pair of warrants accusing him of resisting arrest.
Case Updates| Sentenced to 3 years probation with special conditions of TASC evaluation and treatment. He must undergo random drug screens, 10 hours anger management within the first year of probation. He must serve 100 hours of community service at the animal shelter, and he must forfeit the animal and own no animal during probation. During the first week of probation, he must supply the name of the person who has the animal, and probation is to verify location and the animal's welfare. | Source: Lake County Court Clerk Update posted on Sep 11, 2006 - 10:41PM |
On May 30, Florida resident Brian Howard Glover was observed tossing a puppy from the balcony of his second-floor apartment at 601 W. Dixie Ave. in Leesburg, according to news sources and Glover's arrest sheet (photo of suspect included). Lake County sheriff's deputies (in Leesburg Police Department's jurisdiction) reportedly determined that-at the very least-the puppy suffered an injured lip and swollen jaw as a result of her fall. However neither the Leesburg Police Department nor the Lake County Sheriff's Office confiscated the injured animal, and they could not even confirm to PETA caseworkers that veterinary care had been provided for her. Alarmingly, Leesburg officials could only say that friends of the suspect were allowed to leave with the allegedly victimized animal!
Florida Code §828.073(2)(a)(b) allows any law enforcement officer to take custody of any animal found to be cruelly treated or to order the owner of any animal found to be cruelly treated to provide certain care. Again, neither action was taken.
When PETA caseworkers urged Leesburg police-the agency in whose jurisdiction this alleged crime occurred-to secure the welfare of the puppy, they denied our request and allowed the dog to be spirited into county jurisdiction (i.e., the jurisdiction of the sheriff's department). We then contacted the Lake County Sheriff's Office-spokesperson Deputy McDaniel told us that they "are not going to go check on a dog. We don't have time to do that." Unbelievably, PETA caseworkers were then redirected back to the Leesburg Police Department, "because Leesburg officers initiated the charge of cruelty to animals"!
Lake County and Leesburg officials failed to confiscate this animal from her alleged abuser and subsequently ignored PETA's requests to ensure that this puppy has received proper veterinary care and is now in a safe environment. The puppy's whereabouts are now unknown, and these two agencies have washed their hands of searching for her.
Please contact Lake County and Leesburg officials and ask them to take all necessary steps to locate this puppy and ensure her safety and well-being. Remind them of their duty to seize injured and abused animals or, at the very least, to ensure veterinary care for them:
