Rebecca Bloom, 25, of 3300 block of Royal Jewel, East El Paso, received a notice from the city's Building Services Department on her door stating she has until June 20th to get rid of 30 of her dogs in order to comply with local ordinances.

Under city ordinances she is allowed to have four dogs within city limits. Bloom has 33 Lhasa apsos and one bichon frise.

Bloom said, "It's hard losing them. It's going to be hard to explain to my daughter why her dogs aren't there."

Some of the dogs have already been adopted and others are available for adoption. Bloom is working with Pet Guardian Angel to find homes for the dogs. Bloom is cooperating 100% with the organization.

It is hoped they will be able to find homes for all the dogs so they won't need to be put to sleep after three days if any go to the local animal shelter. All the dogs have their shots.

When Building Services learned of the complaints, they said a zoning change would not be possible and the dogs must go. Within the city limits a person with five or more dogs must apply for a special zoning permit.

Next door neighbors of Bloom said the dogs kept them awake at night. Bloom said she changed the dogs' water three times a day and let them run in the evening.
