In May 2006, authorities discovered pit bulls tied to trees that were allegedly being used for fighting purposes.

Upon arrival on the property, a dog that had been hit by a car was lying on the grass, dead. A report of a mutilated dog and a skull of another dog. The dog that was hit by a car was still lying on the side of the road at the time of this update. Another dog that had been decapitated has been moved to a different place and is still on the property. Also observed was what appeared to be a skeleton of an animal near the pen and numerous unoccupied leashes hung from the trees on the property.

There has been an arrest in this case. Class E Felony Aggravated Cruelty to Animals - $10,000 bond, which was later reduced to $5,000. There were originally seven dogs, one dead at the scene, one hit by a car and killed, and five were rescued and are safe. They are being cared for at an undisclosed location. The Henderson County Sheriff's Department has written a report states that they are actively involved in the investigation.
