more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Horse beaten with sledgehammer, dragged by truck Haskell, OK (US)Incident Date: Sunday, Nov 30, 2003 County: Muskogee
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: John M Hubler
Court documents show that a Haskell man charged with two counts of cruelty to animals was sentenced in Muskogee County District Court. John Hubler, 76, pleaded no contest to the two felony counts against him and was given two concurrent one-year deferred sentences.
When a person pleas no contest, they are not admitting their guilt but agree to accept the punishment.
Hubler was charged in December 2003 after a Muskogee County Sheriff's deputy witnessed Hubler hit a horse in the head with a sledge hammer, tie a chain to its front legs and drag it with his pickup across a field while the horse was alive. One of the charges is related to that incident.
The second charge alleged Hubler "failed to provide proper food for two horses who were in extremely poor health and uncared for." References « More cases in Muskogee County, OK
