A Rochester man has been arrested for allegedly running a cockfighting ring. Investigators at the Humane Society say Israel Velez was raising birds with the intent to fight.

He's been charged with ten counts of training fighting birds and ten counts of possession with intent to fight birds. If convicted, Velez faces up to four years in jail, and/or fines adding up to about $40,000. He's due in City Court on June 1.
