Cat shot, meth lab discovered

Michigan State Police troopers, investigating the shooting of a house cat, discovered a meth lab instead. A tip about the cat led police to the suspect's house. They found all the ingredients of a meth lab, plus an AK-47 and marijuana growing.

The suspect, a 35-year-old Plainwell man, fled the house, but police tracked him down about a half-mile from the house. He was arrested and charged with animal cruelty plus numerous drug and weapon charges. He's being held in the Allegan County Jail and is expected to be arraigned on May 22.
