Case Updates

A Bartow County woman is free on bond, after Sheriff's Deputies charged her with cruelty to animals. Brenda Jackson, the operator of the Sugar Valley Boarding Kennels, was arrested May 16, 2006 for alleged unsanitary conditions at the kennel.

Animal Control Officers took 59 dogs 6 cats and 2 birds from the business. Most of the animals are diseased and infested with fleas. After they're given medical treatment, Bartow County animal control officials will put the animals up for adoption.

Animal control officials are not taking phone calls regarding adoptions... but are accepting applications via their website: EtowahValleyHumane.org.

Jackson faces animal cruelty charges and fines of $60 per animal, per day for every day the animals are in the county's custody.

The Bartow County Sheriff's Office also plans to persue an injunction on the Kennel.
