weak sentence = one star

more information on voting

When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.

Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "People’s Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isn’t enough.

Sexual abuse of dogs
Omaha, NE (US)

Incident Date: Tuesday, Apr 15, 1997
County: Douglas

Disposition: Convicted

Defendants/Suspects:
» Sandra L. Archer
» Mark W. Williams - Alleged

An Omaha woman received the maximum sentence Monday-two years in jail-after pleading guilty to being involved in the deaths of several dogs and rabbits. The woman, Sandra L. Archer, 35, of 1811 Mayfield Avenue, was charged with cruelty to animals and one count of disorderly conduct, said Assistant City Prosecutor Jeff Marcuzzo.

She appeared Monday before Judge Jane Prochaska, in Douglas County Court and was sentenced to four, six-month consecutive jail terms and a $2,000 fine.  Her boyfriend, Mark W. Williams, 36, same address, has been charged with six counts of cruelty to animals, assault and battery and disorderly conduct, Marcuzzo said.

Police reports provided this account of the couple's arrest on Friday:

Officers were called to their home to investigate a disturbance. The woman told officers that she was arguing with her boyfriend about the return of videotapes of their sexual encounters. The woman said the tapes featured her bouncing and sitting of top of dogs, and then the couple having sex atop the dying animals.

"The defendant (Ms. Archer) admitted to the officer that this had been going on for 4 1/2 years and involved 50 animals,' Marcuzzo said.

The couple would get the animals from newspaper ads and animal shelters, the report said. Afterward, the animals' bodies were thrown in the river or in a spot away from their home, according to the report. The Nebraska Humane Society took one dog from the house at the time of the arrest.
