Deputies arrested an Immokalee woman Saturday suspected of striking a cat several times on the head with a metal pipe, authorities said.

Dinie Thimothee, 33, of 1211 Banana Lane, was charged with animal cruelty. Witnesses said Thimothee asked several neighborhood children who were playing with the cat if it was theirs. When they said no, she reportedly started beating the cat, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said.
A Domestic Animal Services officer reported that the cat was listed in critical condition and was taken to the hospital.

The cat was treated for injuries and might be released to its owner, authorities said. Thimothee was taken to the Immokalee Jail Center.
