The Merrimack Police Animal Control Officer responded to a Packard Drive home on Nov 9th, 1998 after a cat was found on the doorstep with an arrow shot through its hind legs.
Buttercup was shot through both hind legs and the lower stomach, puncturing the urinary bladder. The arrow is a recreational type, having a gold shaft, black stripes and green feathers.
Apparently, the cat's owner had left the cat in the care of a neighbor while the family was waiting to move into their new home.
The Town of Merrimack received over $1300 in donations to care for Buttercup.
