Elene Dimpero, 47, of 1424 W. Granville, Park Ridge, was charged with animal cruelty May 3 after police said they found three of her 12 cats dead in a trailer at 2993 Curtis St. She reportedly had not checked on the cats since April 30, when she found two dead. She told police that she has not been living in the trailer since she had neck surgery, and is living with her parents.

Police said they found garbage piled high throughout the trailer and feces everywhere. The trailer was deemed uninhabitable by the community development department.

A June 14 court date was set.
