Three dogs rescued from drug house
Coeymans, NY (US)

Incident Date: Wednesday, May 10, 2006
County: Albany

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged:
» Joseph Hunter
» Patrick Quinlivan

Investigators say they knew they would find an interesting setup inside 286 Copeland Hill Road in Coeymans, but what they found surprised even veteran narcotics officers. Pot plants were growing in what was essentially an oversized closet upstairs and on parts of 63 acres of land. Also inside -- rifles, shotguns and other drugs.

Two men living in the house, Joseph Hunter and Patrick Quinlivan junior...were taken into custody without incident. The men also had a number of long guns -- rifles and shotguns -- along with cocaine, hashish and painkillers like hydrocodone in the house. Apparently, though, they didn't know what they were doing when it came to housekeeping -- living in nearly squalid conditions, as were three dogs chained up outside, including one obviously malnourished one.

The three dogs on the property were taken by the Town of Bethlehem Animal Control to be checked out.

Hunter and Quinlivan were arraigned this afternoon. They're both charged with felony marijuana possession, weapons possession and animal cruelty.
