A June 13 preliminary hearing has been set for a couple accused of allowing a dog to starve to death. Palvis Diamond Minniefield and Krista Luise Dewsnup-Minnifield are each charged with one count of cruelty to an animal, after they allegedly failed to feed and provide water for a dog, according to the district attorney's office.

Prosecutors say the two moved into a house and as part of an agreement were to care for a dog on the property. They allegedly failed to provide water and food for the animal for weeks, district attorney Gregg Cohen said.

If convicted, the two could face up to three years in prison.
