Cat found skinned and decapitated
San Antonio, TX (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, May 4, 2006
County: Bexar

Disposition: Open

Suspect(s) Unknown - We need your help!

A family pet is found decapitated and skinned and neighbors tell local news this isn't the first time something like this has happened in their neighborhood. The cat, Casper, belonged to Javier Vasquez. He says it doesn't look like another animal killed his cat. "It's very shocking," says Vasquez. "The blood was drained out. I think if it would have been an animal; there would have been signs of a struggle."

Brandon Bizzle, and other neighbors, found the cat's mangled body in the yard. "All that was left was its head and the main bone to his body," says Bizzle. Neighbors say this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Vasquez thinks someone is intentionally killing animals.

The couple, who lives in the house where the cat was found, believes someone went into their backyard to get the cat, because the gate they never leave open, had been unlocked. "It's very disturbing," says Vasquez. "I just hope someone saw something and contacts [News 4 WOAI] or the police department." For now, Vasquez says he plans to keep his other cats inside his home. His neighbor, Pam Bizzle, is also worried for the safety of her pets.

Neighbors say they've found three other dead cats and a decapitated rabbit. Animal cruelty investigators are looking into all five cases, but for anything to really come to fruition; they need witnesses to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
