2 year old dog starved to death Bronx, NY (US)Incident Date: Tuesday, Feb 28, 2006 County: Bronx
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Quetsy A Colon
A 32-year old Bronx woman was arrested for animal cruelty after she allegedly let her tiny Chihuahua waste away to two pounds and die. Supermarket worker Quetsy Colon left a box at the Animal Care and Control's Bronx receiving center in March 2006. Inside was the emaciated body of Priscella, her 2-year-old dog, said ASPCA Special Agent Joseph Pentangelo.
A necropsy showed the tiny dog weighed just over 2 pounds, instead of the normal 6 pounds, and had two broken ribs. "All signs are consistent with the dog having been starved," Pentangelo said. Colon was arrested and charged with one count of animal cruelty. She could face up to one year in jail. References« NY State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Bronx County, NY
