A woman who had been living on Camp Verde land, allegedly without permission, was jailed April 21, charged with trespassing, criminal littering and eight counts of animal abuse.
A representative of Republic Companies told a Camp Verde deputy that Ruth Bustos had been living on the land for over a year and had been advised she must leave. The vacant land is near Wilshire Rd. and I-17. Bustos had two travel trailers, a pickup shed and livestock pens.
The officers also found that many animals had been left without water. With temperatures near 90 degrees, cats were locked in the pickup and dogs locked in a trailer. The woman also had a horse, ducks and a goat on the property.
When Bustos was taken to jail, the lifestock was impounded by the animal control officer. References« AZ State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Yavapai County, AZ
