A Waterloo man has been given probation after he pleaded to dog fighting charges.
Tyrone Jeremiah Thompson, 18, of 321 Edwards St., pleaded guilty to misdemeanor dog fighting and was sentenced to 120 days in jail, suspended to a year of probation.
A $500 fine also was suspended.
Authorities said Thompson was a spectator at a fight that happened outside his home in September.
Police and Animal Control officers were called to the fight but didn't find any dogs in the area. They did locate fresh blood in front of Thompson's house, and Thompson said he knew about the fight and had watched it, court records state.
Officers later discovered Thompson owned one of the dogs in the match. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
