A man accused of sponsoring dog fights was arrested on April 21 and charged with two counts of fighting animals and cruelty to animals. Jermichael Lindsey, 22, posted bail on April 22.

According to Tallahassee police, a pit bull puppy was found without food or water chained up outside Lindsey's home, 716 Dover Street. Three other pit bulls were tied up with cinder blocks and chains in the backyard. The dogs each weighed between 37.5 and 44.5 pounds, two looked injured and all of them lacked rabies tags. They were taken to the Animal Shelter.

Case Updates

A judge sentenced a Tallahassee man to three years in state prison Thursday on charges of animal cruelty, according to a release from the State Attorney�s Office.

Jermichael Lindsey, 23, was arrested by Tallahassee police after they found a pit bull puppy without food or water chained up outside Lindsey's home, 716 Dover Street. Three other pit bulls were tied up with cinder blocks and chains in the backyard. The dogs each weighed between 37.5 and 44.5 pounds, two looked injured and all of them lacked rabies tags. The adult dogs were eventually euthanized.

Lindsay was sentenced by Judge Jonathan Sjostrom. Assistant state attorney Georgia Cappelman prosecuted the case.
