Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Name Undisclosed
Authorities found more than 100 live cats -- and the frozen carcasses of more than 80 others - at the home of a 46 year old Mesilla Park woman.
Police went to the home after receiving reports of foul odors. Animal control officers removed about 70 cats from the home and returned for the remaining cats yesterday. They say many of the animals were in need of veterinary care. Officers found 82 frozen cats inside a kitchen freezer -- each inside a one-gallon freezer bag labeled with a brief description and date.
Officials say a 46-year-old woman lived alone in the house. She was examined for physical and mental problems, then released. Police say they're still considering which charges -- if any -- will be filed against the woman. References « More cases in Dona Ana County, NM
