Ninita, an 11-pound Pomeranian was found dead in an apartment on 196th St. in Queens.

Lai arrested 22-year-old George Moran on April 13 for beating his girlfriend's dog to death. He was arrested after being released from New York Hospital Medical Center in Flushing. Moran had cut his wrists earlier, after his girlfriend said she was going to the authorities when the dog was killed. Earlier reports also stated that the dog was fed DRANO.

Moran was charged with two counts of felony animal cruelty.

"He admitted to several occasions where he caused injury to the dog," Pentangelo said. "He also admitted to causing the dog's death."

Moran reportedly broke the dog's leg a year ago during a fight with his girlfriend, Pentangelo said. He then fled to Las Vegas and returned this month.

On April 5, the girlfriend came home to her apartment to find Moran passed out and Ninita dead in her carrier, Pentangelo said. A necropsy showed trauma to the dog's liver and brain.

Moran could face up to two years for each count of felony animal cruelty.
