Jose Botelho of Taunton, leases a Northbridge farm where four dead cows and skeletal remains of five others were found on the farm over the weekend.

The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals plan to seek animal cruelty charges against Botelho for animal cruelty.

Captain Robert Fennessy, special state police officer for the MSPFCA said, "There was no water. Water costs zero. There was manure a foot deep."

Fennessy said it was one of the most disgusting places he'd ever seen when he viewed a videotape of the property.

No one was caring for the animals every day. Botelho was operating the farm to provide replacement cows for a nearby dairy farm.
