Dog neglected, starved Greenfield, Queens Co., NS (CA)Incident Date: Saturday, Jan 20, 2001
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: man
An unidentified man from Greenfield, Queens County, has been charged with neglect. The RCMP rescued a badly malnourished dog from his backyard.
The man has been convicted of the same charge before. He will appear in Liverpool provincial court on Feb 5.
The local SPCA received a tip and gave it to the RCMP. When the RCMP agents went to the man's home, they found a 7-month old black Labrador tied up in a shed. The dog was suffering from starvation and dehydration.
The dog had been reduced to eating its own bodily waste to survive. The animal was placed in the South Shore Veterinary Clinic for treatment.
The veterinarians say the dog is improving and is expected to survive. References- Halifax NS Daily News - Jan 27, 2001
