An investigation is underway after Pembroke Pines police open fire on a beloved pet but now it turns out the pets owner is also under investigation. Dyonisus Eagle, says the shooting death of one of his pitbulls by police was uncalled for.

Officers from Pembroke Pines Police responded to the home located at 9731 Southwest 16th Court on April 3, 2006, after they received an anonymous call regarding animal abuse at the address. When they arrived, one of the dogs was attacking and ending up killing another dog that was tied to a leash in the backyard. Police say they were forced to fire on the aggressive dog so he would stop biting the other dog. Eagle says the shooting was unnecessary. "They're really lovable dogs," said Eagle. "They are like family to me."

The dog was shot multiple times by police in the incident, leaving Eagle with two dead dogs.
Police now want to know if Eagle has put his pets in danger in the past and might press charges for animal abuse. Eagle is already contemplating legal action against police.
