A sign on Jazmere Robinson's refrigerator read "Get Hungry. All U Can Eat." But ASPCA officials charge the city Parks Department worker let her two dogs starve while they were chained up in her Bronx kitchen.

Following an investigation, Robinson, who weighs around 300 pounds, was arrested March 27, 2006 at her job in Claremont Park by ASPCA Special Agents Adam Gankiewicz and Richard Ryan and charged with two counts of animal cruelty. The ASPCA was called by police to her Bronx apartment on E. 143rd St. Police officers were in the building on an unrelated matter and caught a glimpse of the two skinny dogs, Damu and Porsche. They were alarmed by what they saw.

Agents entered the apartment on Feb. 21, 2006 and found the two dogs tied up in the kitchen without food and water, according to ASPCA Special Agent Joseph Pentangelo. Damu, a 1-year-old female shepherd mix, weighed only 20 pounds and was anemic. Her ribs and pelvic bones were protruding through her skin. "Damu's condition reflects many weeks of starvation," Pentangelo said. Porsche, a 2-year-old female pit bull mix, weighed just 27 pounds.

The two dogs were brought to the ASPCA hospital for treatment. Pentangelo said Porsche has almost doubled her body weight, tipping the scales at more than 40 pounds. Damu now weighs about 39 pounds. "These dogs were given little or no food," Pentangelo said. "It's inexplicable why the suspect would keep them in the kitchen near the refrigerator and not feed them."
