Police in Attleboro are investigating what may be a horrific case of animal abuse. A 14-month old English setter was found dead, apparently beaten and left in a swimming pool. Ronald Polion's 15-year-old son found "London" on March 22, 2006.
Polion first noticed "London" missing when he and his fiance returned home from a hospital visit the morning. "London" is one of two English setters owned by the family. Both dogs are kept in a secure, fenced area of the yard. The gate to the dog's fenced-in area, which opens inward, was open when they returned.
Police are investigating the possibility the dog jumped in the pool. Although the family believes that scenario is unlikely. Polion said he knows of no problems with any of his neighbors or anyone who would hold a grudge against the family or their pets.
