On the brink of starvation, two dozen abandoned animals were rescued March 18, 2006 by Bexar County sheriff's deputies. Sheriff's deputies raided a house on Wood Park in South Bexar County. The Humane Society rescued more than twenty starving and sick dogs and cats. The rescue team called the conditions that the animals were being forced to live in appalling. These conditions are deplorable, Cindy Healer from the Humane Society explained to News 4 WOAI. There is no food on the property. We have found some dead animals. These conditions are not conditions for an animal to have to live in.
Deputies are trying to find the property owner, who could face animal cruelty charges. The Humane Society says the dogs will be put up for adoption once they are healthy. References« TX State Animal Cruelty Map
