The Fairfax City Petland pled guilty to 3 counts of failure to provide adequate shelter for puppies. They received the maximum fine for a Class 4 misdemeanor--$250 per count, for a total of $750.

About 44 puppies were reportedly found in cages without proper resting mats, required by law as a buffer between the animals and the metal wire of the cages. The owner was fined $250 for each count.
