Stanley Keswick, an ex-convict who served time for killing his brother, was arrested after he reportedly threatened a neighbor with a four inch knife when she saw him kicking a dog he was walking. When the police arrived, Keswick also threatened the officer.

When investigators went to the house where he was living in with his sister, Stanna Sperling, in the 8000 block of North Scottsdale Road 33 diseased cats were found living in the home.

The cats were taken to the Arizona Humane Society.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office has filed four counts of aggravated assault against Keswick in connection with an assault in December in Tempe and the Jan 4 incident as well as misdemeanor charges of cruelty to animals. He could face up to 60 years in prison if he is convicted.

The Scottsdale City Court has filed 33 counts of animal cruelty against Stanna Sperling. She is to be arraigned in March 24. Sperling could face up tot three years probation, $2,500 fine and 6 months in jail.

The cats are still being treated and cared for at the humane society.
