Alleged: Adult
Valentine, a 5-month-old puppy was hairless, gaunt and bruised. Animal cruelty charges are pending against Valentine's owner who so neglected the puppy that she died "emaciated and lethargic with severe skin issues," according to Humane Society and the Oshkosh Police Department.
The photos are hard to look at. Valentine was brought to shelter on Feb. 13, 2006. She was subsequently euthanized after doctors concluded she was too severely malnourished to save.
"This is something that had to occur over several weeks at a minimum to reach such a severe condition," veterinarian John Popp stated in a release announcing pending charges against Valentine's owner.

Note: Classifications and other fields should not be used to determine what specific charges the suspect is facing or was convicted of - they are for research and statistical purposes only. The case report and subsequent updates outline the specific charges. Charges referenced in the original case report may be modified throughout the course of the investigation or trial, so case updates, when available, should always be considered the most accurate reflection of charges.
