Dog neglect - two found dead Kingsport, TN (US)Incident Date: Saturday, Feb 18, 2006 County: Sullivan
Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Dwayne Rice
A Simerly Creek resident was arrested Feb 18 and charged with two counts of cruelty to animals in connection with the death of two dogs. Unicoi County Sheriff's Department Deputy Kelly Blevins said in a report that he was sent to Hummingbird Drive on Thursday, where he met with a woman.
She showed him two black and tan hound dogs that were dead. "The animals looked like they had not been fed for a while," Blevins said. Tags on the dogs' collars showed the animals belonged to Dwayne Rice, 32, 4403 Simerly Creek Road. Blevins also talked to a girl who reported that the last time she had seen Rice feed the dogs was about two weeks ago. The woman said she had not seen the man for four or five weeks. Rice was arrested and posted a $1,000 bond that day to secure his release from the Unicoi County Jail. References« TN State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Sullivan County, TN
