A small dog is in need of a lot of love after being thrown from a moving car.

Leo, a 4-week-old pit bull mix, and another puppy were tossed out of a moving car in the Everglades in late February.

Leo survived but the other puppy did not. A woman who witnessed the abuse brought Leo to the Miami-Dade County Animal Care and Control.

"He's a super little guy," said Dr. Eric Schmirman, who examined the dog and named him. "He seems to be a beautiful little pup."

But Leo appears to be blind, according to Schmirman.

"Because he was thrown out of the window there can be what we call a central nervous system blindness," Schmirman said.

When Eve Van Engel with Paws 2 Help in West Palm Beach heard Leo's story, she immediately took the pup in.

Van Engel said the puppy will just be put to sleep if a new owner isn't found. "I would really like to find somebody who would be able to provide for him," she said.

She said she wants to find a good family for Leo.

"Somewhere he could go into right now as a foster and then end up as an adoption," she said.

If you are interested in adopting Leo, call Paws 2 Help at (561) 712-1911.
