Horse neglect - 3 found dead
Salem, OR (US)

Incident Date: Friday, Mar 3, 2006
County: Marion

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Raymond Willson, II

Polk County deputies arrested a man on animal-neglect charges on March 3 after officials found three dead horses and three others in poor health at his rural residence this week.

Raymond Willson II, 62, who lives on rural Elliott Road, faces six counts each of first- and second-degree animal neglect, said Dean Bender of the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The charges are misdemeanors.

Wilson was not home at the time the residence was searched. The three surviving horses were taken to an animal-rescue facility. The remaining horses on the property will be monitored, Bender said.
