Abandoning 10 cats
Billerica, MA (US)

Incident Date: Thursday, Feb 6, 2003
County: Middlesex

Disposition: Alleged

Alleged: Jan Curran

Jan Curran allegedly moved out of her house in Billerica, MA and left behind 10 cats.   Curran allegedly they knew they were moving for almost a year.   There was no working heat in the house and the animals were left without adequate food and water.

The animals have been examined, and it was discovered that at least two of the cats were inbred and that two females were pregnant (the vet had to abort them due to inbreeding).  One cat is quite ill but is on medication and being watched by the veterinary staff.  They expect a full recovery.

There were 10 cats in all removed.  There is presently a trap in case there is one more still in there.  Curran allegedly took a few cats, a dog and ferrets with her when she moved.
