A Cedar Falls man faces charges of animal torture for allegedly killing a dog that his roommate was temporarily caring for.

30-year-old Gregory Watson is accused of hitting a one-year-old Cocker Spaniel in the head last week with a blunt object. According to court records, Watson was arrested after telling investigators he lost control and killed the animal. The dog was given to Watson's roommate after its owner lost her home in a fire.
