Susan Wifladt, 42, and her husband, Tom Wifladt, 45, accused of neglecting 40 animals have signed papers ordering them to serve one year's probation and forbidding them from owing animals for a year. They have also been ordered to pay up to $2,500 of their dogs' medical bills.

They pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of failing to provide proper food and sustenance to the 35 dogs, one cat and four birds that were seized from their home in June.

Richard Sagendorf, 18, also pleaded guilty last week to the same misdemeanor but the charge will be dismissed if he stays out of trouble for six months.

While his parents were on vacation, Richard Sagendorf was looking after the animals. When the police entered the residence with a search warrant they found the dogs mostly Pekingese and Pekingese-poodle mix packed in crates and stacked on top of one another in the basement.

The Wilfadts turned over the animals to the Upstate SPCA.
