Two sisters, Janice Wyatt, 41, and Barbara Wyatt, 42, were arrested on June 8 and charged with animal cruelty.
There were 26 dogs and 9 cats that were seized at the Prattville home of the Wyatt sisters.
The pets had not been properly fed and were infested with fleas and mites. Most of the dogs were so riddled with mange, they had no hair. Montgomery County took custody of the animals because Autauga County has no humane shelter.
All of the twenty-two dogs found in the back yard suffer from eternal and internal parasites, said Andy Potter, manager of the shelter.
If the two sisters are convicted, they could face a maximum fine of $1,000 on each of the 35 counts against them individually. Neighborhood MapFor more information about the Interactive Animal Cruelty Maps, see the map notes.
