Frank Wyche, 48, of 107 Van Dorn Court, Warner Robbins has been charged with 63 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty alleging that he neglected his animals.

If convicted, he could face $1,000 fine and a year in jail on each charge.

Wyche has been charged with 42 counts of cruelty to animals and 21 counts of cruelty to dogs after he allegedly neglected 22 dogs and more than 30 hogs in a wooded area. He was being held in the Houston County Jail.

In a separate incident, Wyche has also been accused of keeping too many dogs at his residence, a violation of the county's animal control ordinance. His first court appearance on that charge will be Feb 5.

The 22 dogs confiscated are being housed by Warner Robins animal control and at a local veterinarian's office. The dogs will remain in custody until Wyche goes to trial on the charges.

Animal control officer Ed Carroll said, "(Returning the dogs) would be like putting a child back in a home where a parent has been charged with child abuse."

Hogs are being kept under state protection at the compound where they were found on Oct 17. Wyche had been feeding them, when he's in jail it's not known who will be responsible for feeding them.

Wyche is being charged with both cruelty to animals and cruelty to dogs because he allegedly committed two different offenses against the dogs. Cruelty to animal charges allege Wyche caused "unjustifiable pain or suffering" to the dogs and hogs, and the cruelty to dogs charges allege he performed "a cruel act on a dog."

The abused dogs and hogs were found by a concerned citizen walking through the woods that stumbled upon the animals.
