Portions of a Green Bay packing plant had to be closed after agriculture officials raised concerns about the treatment of animals. The receiving and harvesting areas at Packerland Packing on Lime Kiln Road were shutdown on February 8, 2006.

USDA veterinarians on site found some employees were not following company procedures for humane treatment of live animals. Those employees have been reprimanded. Steve Van Lanen, Senior Vice President for General Managers, says there were no human health concerns, and no product was affected.
