more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.
Case #741 Rating: 4.0 out of 5
3 greyhounds starved Taunton, MA (US)Incident Date: Friday, Dec 31, 1999 County: Bristol
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Kevin M. Holloway
Three counts of animal cruelty against Kevin M. Holloway, 38, of Halifax, were continued without a finding for one year. Judge Kevan J. Cunningham also ordered Holloway to perform 40 hours of community service.
Holloway said in court records that he had lost his job and was struggling financially in January 2000 when the Animal Rescue League of Boston alleges Holloway starved Henry and two other greyhounds -- Rosie and Red.
Holloway said he couldn't afford to board his dogs and brought them to a Taunton family to board temporarily until someone could adopt them. That's where the Animal Rescue League found the undernourished animals.
"I am not a callous or uncaring person. I do not have a history of violence or neglect. I do not have a history of being cruel to animals," Holloway said in a motion asking for a sentence that would not require him to admit wrongdoing.
Judge Francis T. Crimmins, who presided over Holloway's case earlier in the day prior to Judge Cunningham, denied Holloway's request for pretrial probation. References« MA State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Bristol County, MA
