Paddy Donnelly, an Ulsterman from Beragh in Co Tyrone said he did not know how his labrador cross Max got inside the boot of his car when he flew to England. He denies that he left his dog in the boot deliberately.
Donnelly is asking that his dog be returned to him.
The pet is currently in being cared for by the USPCFA after he was rescued from the boot of his car parked at the Belfast International Airport on Dec 7.
Mr Donnelly told the Belfast Telegraph, "It's very distressing -- the dog is a very good friend. It wasn't done intentionally. I'd like to know as well as anybody else how he got there. I can't understand how he never barked or moved during my drive to the airport."
The USPCA stressed the animal could have suffered a slow, painful death.
The airport police were patrolling the parking lot when they heard the dog barking. They had to force their way into the vehicle to rescue the dog. The dog had been locked in the boot for several hours and was in a "distressed state."
