Two women have been arrested for leaving two dogs (a Scottish terrier and a German shepherd mix) in a hot car while they shopped at Wal-Mart.

The dogs had been left in the car for about one hour on a Saturday afternoon. The officials said it was 97 degrees with a 108 degree heat index that afternoon and a window in the car was barely cracked.

Stephanie Wilson, 28, and Deanna Baker, 49, were arrested on felony animal cruelty complaints after a woman told police she saw two dogs locked in a car in the Broken Arrow Wal-Mart parking lot.

Both the Scottish terrier and the German shepherd mix were whining and they looked dehydrated when the officer arrived on the scene to assist the dogs.
