Disposition: Alleged
Alleged: Cherie Suprenant Jones
Cherie Suprenant Jones, 25, is scheduled to appear in court on July 24 1997 after being charged with cruelty to animals for allegedly leaving an 8-week old puppy in a closed car during a heat wave.
Jones has also been charged with failure to return a suspended license.
A police officer spotted the puppy curled up on the driver's seat in a parked car in the direct sunlight in a grocery store lot. When taken to a veterinarian, the body temperature which is normally 102 degrees, had risen to 107 degrees.
The puppy was unable to walk because of swelling on the brain. The puppy was treated by Dr Brian Laubstein, a veterinarian at the Beacon Valley Animal Hospital.
Laubstein said, "He didn't have much time left, maybe 10 to 15 minutes." References- Associated Press - July 17, 1997
