An alleged attack on a boy allowed the Ohio Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to seize needy animals. Evelyn Silva said her neighbor Jeremy Kegley, 11, provoked her pets into attacking him. The Ohio SPCA seized 40 dogs Silva kept in cages under her trailer and tied to trees, Tate reported. "I want the dogs out, because they're threatened," said Silva.
"(They) can't move around," said Teresa Landon, of the Ohio SPCA. "(They're) without water." The Ohio revised code requires animals have wholesome food and drink. NBC 4 found molded food bowls and buckets of dirty water instead. Some dogs also had eye infections and mange. Silva maintains she took the animals to the veterinarian and was hoping to have them adopted. "I didn't plan to have this many," Silva said. "I was trying to help them."
Landon blames the death of Pepper, another neglected dog, on the owner and hopes Tuesday's rescue will allow officials to prosecute her. "We still want justice for Pepper and animal cruelty charges filed," Landon said. References« Back to Search Results
