more information on voting
When you vote, you are voting on whether or not the punishment fit the crime, NOT on the severity of the case itself. If you feel the sentence was very weak, you would vote 1 star. If you feel the sentence was very strong, you would vote 5 stars.
Please vote honestly and realistically. These ratings will be used a a tool for many future programs, including a "Peoples Choice" of best and worst sentencing, DA and judge "report cards", and more. Try to resist the temptation to vote 1 star on every case, even if you feel that 100 years in prison isnt enough.

Cat stabbed, resulting in death Red Bank, NJ (US)Incident Date: Sunday, Mar 9, 2003 County: Monmouth
Disposition: Convicted
Defendant/Suspect: Gregory E. Credle
Gregory E. Credle, 43, was sentenced to nine years in prison for breaking into his former girlfriend's home twice and for stabbing her cat which had to be euthanized. Credle must serve seven years, seven months and 27 days of the nine year sentence before he is eligible for parole or 85% of his sentence under the state's "No Early Release Act."
Credle pleaded guilty in September to two counts of armed burglary for breaking into the woman's home in Red Bank in May 2002 and March 2003 and to animal cruelty.
He violated a restraining order on March 9 which had been issued after the 2002 break in. When he entered the victim's home again on March 9 he admitted stabbing the victim's cat.
The victim returned to her home on the evening of March 9 to find it ransacked and the cat wounded. She left the home and called the police. When the police arrived, they found Credle hiding in one of the bedrooms with a hunting knife that had a 6-inch blade.
During the 2002 break in Credle had struck the victim with a hammer, injuring her.
Superior Judge Anthony J. Mellaci imposed a nine year sentence for the two armed burglaries and concurrent 18 months for the animal cruelty charge. Credle is to have no contact with the victim.
