A Salem County grand jury indicted a Bridgeton man on Feb 8, 2006 on three counts of third degree animal cruelty, according to court papers.

Edward W. Ford, 38, of Bridgeton, was arrested March 3, 2005 in Quinton Township and charged with purposely, knowingly or recklessly tormenting, torturing, maim or mutilating a living animal, the indictment states.

According to court papers Ford shot and killed two dogs and hit a cat in the head with a bat, killing it.
